“Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Alix make this whole process so fun and puts you at ease the minute you meet her. And she has awesome ideas to bring out the best in you. Very professional, very private, loads of fun!“
Whenever I am asked what I do for a living and I respond with “I am a boudoir photographer”; I get a mix of looks ranging from excitement to shock and it is always followed with a lot of questions.
When someone talks about Boudoir photography there’s often a sense of uncertainty about what that experience would be.
“Aren’t those scandalous pictures with half naked women in them?”
Ok…yes, there may be a little bit of skin involved here, but not a whole lot more than when you put on your bikini for a day in the sun. Boudoir photography is about female empowerment and discovering your own inner sex appeal that you might not know even exists. It is about building self confidence and accepting who you are today and loving that person unconditionally. Boudoir photography is about having tons of fun, playing sexy dress up, getting pampered and letting your inhibitions melt away. There is so much more to boudoir photography than simply being a sex kitten and baring it all for the world to see. (Unless you want to be a sex kitten because we love to bring that out here too!) Historically speaking, the term “boudoir” originated in France to define a woman’s private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. “Boudoir Photography” has been around since the beginning of photographic time but like most erotic art, it has been rarely talked about until the last decade. Sexy photography gained popularity during the Pin up girl era in the 1940’s & 50’s and has continued on evolving with each decade into the amazing industry it is today. Today, Boudoir Photography has become a modern and fun way to explore your own sexy side and celebrate who you are right now. Your beautiful images are for your eyes only and the select audience you wish to show them to. They are as risque or a tame as you want them to be and it’s about allowing yourself to simply be you! The times have changed and the stigma attached to these sort of photo’s are slowly starting to disappear. There’s no reason a woman can’t take charge of her sexuality in what ever way makes her feel best about herself. Are you ready to unleash your inner naughtiness?
